Scheme of Jan Shikshan Sansthan
To meet the training needs of the unemployed
and other deprived sections in the society, the scheme of
Jan Shikshan Sansthans, (JSS) - Institute of Peoples' education
is in operation in India since 1967. This is an innovative
programme, sponsored by Ministry of Human Resource Development,
Government of India which came into being as a result of discussions
between the Indian Government and UNESCO. The main objective
of Jan Shikshan Sansthan is to enrich the life of illiterates,
neo-literates, women, poor, down trodden, SC, ST, Handicapped,
slum dwellers, unemployed and semi skilled workers, through
education, create awareness to widen knowledge, improve occupational
skills through vocational training programmes.
The distinct features of the JSS are
(i) Flexibility - characteristic of non-formal education
(ii) the special target groups are the socially, economically
and educationally deprived sections of the Urban, Rural and Tribal areas
(iii) the objective of offering life enrichment education is
meant to provide the individual not only the skills to enhance
his/ her production potentiality but also the knowledge necessary
for him / her to
improve the quality of life.

Avinashilingam Jan Shikshan Sansthan (AJSS)
AVINASHILINGAM JAN SHIKSHAN SANSTHAN was
started on 2nd October 1984 in Coimbatore, to help the urban
poor, under the auspices of Sri Avinashilingam Educational
Trust Institutions, a pioneer - Deemed University in Home
Science education having rich experience in developmental
work for the urban and rural poor. Avinashilingam Jan Shikshan
Sansthan is offering more than 126 types of training programmes
for employment, self employment and entrepreneurship. |
